Today"s Movie: Train to Busan

Action Items for Tuesday, April 28th:
Fitness Challenge: 100 push ups, 100 sit ups.
Compare how you do to last week - Did it take you the same amount of time? How do you feel mentally about the challenge, knowing that you have done it before?
Feel free to shake things up and try a different tactic! I am going to see how many I can do in a row this week without stopping - last week, I just did sets of 10 push ups, 10 sit ups and rested in between until I got to 100.
Don't let the number scare you - you can do this challenge in two different ways:
1. Timed
Complete all 100 push ups and sit ups at once, timing yourself how long it takes to get done. Write down in your journal how long it takes, what you broke up the intervals into and where you felt fatigued most.
2. Throughout the Day
Instead of going all at once, break up into bite-sized intervals throughout the day. You can do 10 every hour, 50 in the morning and evening.. however you want to do it! Again, record in your journal what your intervals were, what your breakdown was, how you felt physically, etc.
Mindfulness Challenge: Sit and do nothing for 5 minutes.
You are not creating a list of things to do when your 5 minutes are up, you're not watching tv, playing with the kids, reading, sleeping... you are just sitting and doing NOTHING. This is harder than it sounds. Our minds have the tendency to want to fill the void whenever we have time. You will feel your mind drifting and start thinking, but you need to acknowledge it and try to refocus your mind on being still. I like to picture my mind as that large white room in the Matrix where things would be downloaded - you want the room as clear as possible. (This is called mindfulness meditation and is an amazing way to ground yourself!)

Lifestyle Challenge: Look up something in history that means something to you and tell us about it!
It's so easy to get stuck in our own world - it's rare when we venture outside of it! Take a few minutes to research a historical event, item or anything that you've been curious about that you just "never got around to".
Here's some examples:
What are the different types of clouds?
Why does morning dew happen?
Explanations for UFOs
Why does the Easter Bunny hide eggs?
Have fun with it!
Nutrition Challenge: Water only. This one's easy, drink only water! No sports drinks, juices, sodas or alcohol - just water!
Note: One coffee or tea is still okay.
