Happy Saturday! Today is all about #selfcare #selflove. It's Self Love Saturday <3
Fitness Challenge: 10 minutes of stretching
Recovery cannot be overestimated. Stretching relaxes your sore muscles and releases knots, tension and lactic acid build up. It also helps with mobility and flexibility, both which are needed to avoid injury.
Join me at 10 am for a free flexibility class here.
Mindfulness Challenge: Do an extra task that is SPECIFICALLY for you!
There is the normal routine of getting up and going throughout your day- brush your hair, wash your face, get dressed, etc.
Then there are those "extra once-in-a-blue-moon" type of self-care things we do like painting your nails, face mask cleansing, coloring your hair, making your favorite recipe, giving yourself a foot massage..
Today is the day for those little "extras". Choose something to do for yourself and do it! Maybe put on your favorite chill music (like this one!), set the kids in front of their favorite show for 20 minutes and
get. your. self .love. on.
Lifestyle Challenge: Learn a new language 5-30 minutes
Learning new languages aren't just for high school seniors. Learning another language opens your brain to new opportunities! There are some amazing language apps that turn learning into fun such as the ones here. I personally use Busuu for learning French and Russian.
What language will you pick?
Nutrition Challenge: 1 gallon of water
DON'T BE INTIMIDATED. A gallon of water seems like a lot, but it's all about breaking it down to tolerable amounts throughout the day. When I first wake up, I make sure to drink my 32 oz of water while waiting for my coffee to brew. Water first thing in the morning has been shown to have beneficial effects on mood, alertness and overall health. Just think - you just fasted for the past 6-8 hours, you will need to replenish your fluids!
Helpful tips for drinking a gallon of water:
Measure how much water you drink by drinking out of a gallon. It is easy to forget if you are on your fourth bottle of water (or maybe fifth?) when just trying to remember.
If you do not have a gallon, use markers such as elastic bands around your SAME water bottle to mark off how many you have consumed.
And that's it! Good luck and Happy Saturday!
